New CSFI Advisory Board Director Ms. Dare King – Former Senior Intelligence Service Officer at the CIA.

Dare King is an Executive Vice President at Babel Street, a web-monitoring software company specializing in advanced linguistic analysis. In this role, she is responsible for delivering solutions that transition the innovative technology and analytic power of Babel Street into the unique operating environment of National Security customers. She also leads the Babel Street Intelligence Community and Cyber business portfolios.

Prior to joining Babel Street, Ms. King was a Senior Intelligence Service officer at the CIA, with a fifteen-year career that spanned three Directorates. Most recently she led the largest group in CIA’s Center for Cyber Intelligence where she managed cyber infrastructure, data, analytic software, and data science activities. Prior to that, she established the first data science program in the DNI’s Open Source Center, delivered first of kind data-driven analytic products to senior policy makers, and was an executive advisor to the CIA Associate Deputy Director. Ms. King began her Agency career as a Technical Intelligence Officer leading and conducting technical operations worldwide. Before joining federal service, Ms. King worked as a manufacturing engineer at General Motors for four years. Ms. King has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Pacific and a Master’s of Engineering from Purdue University.

Help Wanted! Join the CSFI Team of Certified Instructors!

CSFI_Certified_Instructor_bannerCSFI is looking for qualified individuals to grow our pool of instructors. While we could use instructors all over the nation, the greatest need is in the local DMV area. Various curriculum instructors are needed, but all require US citizenship and US military experience.

Other qualifications, requirements, and responsibilities are dependent on the particular course. See below.

Introduction to Cyber Warfare and Operations Design (ICWOD)
Ideal for Cyberspace Operations Planners or other similar positions.
Qualifications:
Experience planning and conducting exercises and report preparation
Familiarity with the Joint Operation Planning Process (JOPP)
US cyber warfare doctrine knowledge
Experience with various types of cyber threats and attack vectors and the consequences of cyber attacks

Defensive Cyberspace Operations Engineer (DCOE)
Ideal for Cyberspace Operations Engineers/Operators or other similar positions.
Qualifications:
Advanced Linux knowledge
DCO/OCO/NETOPS operational experience
Familiarity with the PBED process preferred
Will be required to facilitate technical lab exercises and a Capture-The-Flag capstone event

Certified Collections Analyst (CCA)
Ideal for Collections Operators or other similar positions.
Qualifications:
Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) experience
HUMINT/OSINT/SIGINT background
Intelligence driven collections operations experience
Knowledge of intelligence product tailoring
Deep packet analysis experience preferred

These are part-time positions (one to two weeks every one to three months) with very competitive pay. This is a great way to make supplemental income while supporting the nation’s cyber warfighters! May involve opportunities to travel both nationally and internationally.

*Must be a US citizen and must have US military experience.

Bio

Dr. Paul de Souza is the founder of the Cyber Security Forum Initiative (CSFI). Dr. de Souza has over 20 years of cybersecurity experience. He is faculty at George Washington University and has worked as the Chief Security Engineer for AT&T, where he designed and approved secure networks for MSS (Managed Security Services). Dr. de Souza also worked as a security engineer for Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and U.S. Robotics. He has consulted for several governments, military organizations, and private institutions across the globe. He served as a Federal Director of Training and Education for Norman Data Defense Systems.

Dr. de Souza serves as a CENTRIC (Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence & Organized Crime Research) Visiting Researcher at Sheffield Hallam University, U.K., and as a Guest Lecturer at the Swedish Defence University (SEDU) Försvarshögskolanand; former Institute of World Politics Board of Advisors for the Cyber Intelligence Initiative (Ci2) in Washington, D.C.; and served as an Advisor for the MCPA (Military Cyber Professionals Association). He is a Cyber SME NATO Instructor and an Order of Thor Medal recipient.

He is a Negev Hi-Tech Faculty Startup Accelerator Advisor for Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, and an Advisory Board member at IntellCorp (Lisbon, Portugal – Counter-Terrorism/Counter-Intelligence/Cyber). He has been a Visiting Research Fellow at the National Security Studies, Tel Aviv University, Israel (INSS) – Cyber Security and Military & Strategic Affairs Programs. He has completed the Executive Program in Counter-Terrorism Studies from the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya in Israel. He is also a Cybersecurity Exec Ed alum at Harvard Kennedy School. He serves as an American Public University Ambassador, a Cybersecurity Programs Advisory Board Member at Capitol Technology University, and a Professor of Cyber Threat Intelligence at The University of Georgia, Tbilisi.

Dr. de Souza has a master’s degree in National Security Studies (M.A.) with a concentration in Terrorism from American Military University, West Virginia, and a Ph.D. in Critical Infrastructure from Capitol Technology University, Maryland
