CSFI Get-Together – Las Vegas 2012

CSFI Get-Together at the Venetian Hotel, July 2012

Our CSFI Get-Together was a success! Vir-Sec graciously sponsored the event in support of our mission. Our members had the opportunity to network and meet fellow members face-to-face. We would like to recognize the many members who are not in this picture who also participated in this event. Our loyal members are passionate in the defense of cyberspace, and of the liberties and freedoms of our country, partners, and allies.

CSFI Mission:
“To provide Cyber Warfare awareness, guidance, and security solutions through collaboration, education, volunteer work, and training to assist the US Government, US Military, Commercial Interests, and International Partners.”

NSA Booth at DEFCON 20

NSA Booth at DEFCON 20

NSA shares official booth with DEFCON vendors in trying to promote its core mission and values. This year General Keith Alexander spoke at DEFCON, making history by reaching out to the security industry and hacker community. The NSA clearly understands the need for collaboration, knowledge sharing and mostly importantly integration of the classified domain with industry in achieving operational capabilities for the protection of American national security in cyberspace. “The mission of the NSA and its military component, the Central Security Service (CSS), is focused on saving lives, defending vital networks, and exploiting the foreign communications of adversaries.” General Alexander is equally committed to protecting the privacy rights of the American people. I am tremendously impressed with the NSA’s willingness to intensify its efforts to connect with a very talented community of cyber warriors from DEFCON! Collecting foreign signals (SIGINT), providing information assurance (IA) and enabling computer network operations (CNO) are the crux of the NSA’s work. CSFI is committed to training our cyber warriors of today by focusing on CNO classes and certification bringing the IA community operational and strategy knowledge much needed to in order to operate in the cyber domain. Career Thoughts

I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to manage and run one of the biggest and most active forums on the Internet dealing with cyber warfare and cyber security – CSFI (The Cyber Security Forum Initiative). With over 16 years of cyber security experience, I continue to actively raise Cyber Warfare/Cyber Security awareness worldwide. I have worked as a Chief Security Engineer for AT&T, where I designed and approved secure networks for MSS. I have also consulted for several governments, military and private institutions on best network security practices throughout my career.

CSFI and its divisions CSFI-CWD (Cyber Warfare Division), CSFI-LPD (Law and Policy Division) and CSFI-WD (Wireless Division) continue to grow and expand with more than 60,000 information security members.

One of my personal goals is to serve our security community to the best of my abilities, in the protection and defense of our American national security interests, the American people, and that of our international partners. I am always ready to serve and to give of my time and skills to help our society with the growing problems we experience in cyberspace. I thank God and my family for the opportunities I have had in life and the most precious of all opportunities, which is the chance to serve others. I love what I do, and I appreciate all the support I have received from friends, family and our CSFI members.
