Major General Mark R. Quantock assumed duties as Director of Intelligence (CCJ2), United States Central Command, July 2016. MG Quantock received his commission from the New Mexico Military Institute. He has a BA from the State University of New York (SUNY), Plattsburg, and Master’s Degrees from Central Michigan and the National War College. MG Quantock has served in a variety of Military Intelligence, staff and command positions. His most recent assignment was as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Resolute Support, CJ2, U.S. Forces Afghanistan in Kabul where he served as the senior intelligence officer in theater with oversight over all intelligence operations in Afghanistan. Previous key staff assignments included the Military Deputy of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), Fort Belvoir, VA; Deputy Director for Trans-Regional Policy, J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.; CJ-2 International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan; and G3 Army Cyber Command/2nd US Army, Ft. Belvoir, VA. His other combat assignments include: Intelligence Advisor/Liaison Officer for Joint Forces Command-East, OPERATIONS DESERT SHIELD/STORM, Saudi Arabia; Commander, 205th Military Intelligence Brigade, V Corps, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Iraq.

MG Quantock lives in Tampa, FL with his wife Rebecca; they have three adult children. MG Quantock is authorized to wear the Defense Superior Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Cluster (OLC), Legion of Merit with three OLCs, Bronze Star with OLC, and numerous other personal and unit awards.

New CSFI Fellow! – Retired Navy Commander

Meg Reed has over twenty years of experience working in the cybersecurity/information assurance (IA) field in various federal customer environments. Key focus areas include security program evaluation, risk assessment, risk management, system/application control validation, and security process development.  Experience with the Department of Defense (DOD) Risk Management Framework (RMF), DOD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP), security testing and evaluation, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security, privacy, policy research, architecture analysis, and contingency planning.
Ms. Reed is currently a lead cybersecurity subject matter expert (SME) for a DOD customer in support of fielding and upgrade of an enterprise business system’s applications.  She provides direct support to the system integrator to fulfill cybersecurity requirements ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability throughout the application lifecycle.
Ms. Reed is a retired US Navy veteran.  She served on active duty and in the Reserves, first as an enlisted member and then as an officer.

Career Thoughts

I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to manage and run one of the biggest and most active forums on the Internet dealing with cyber warfare and cyber security – CSFI (The Cyber Security Forum Initiative). With over 16 years of cyber security experience, I continue to actively raise Cyber Warfare/Cyber Security awareness worldwide. I have worked as a Chief Security Engineer for AT&T, where I designed and approved secure networks for MSS. I have also consulted for several governments, military and private institutions on best network security practices throughout my career.

CSFI and its divisions CSFI-CWD (Cyber Warfare Division), CSFI-LPD (Law and Policy Division) and CSFI-WD (Wireless Division) continue to grow and expand with more than 60,000 information security members.

One of my personal goals is to serve our security community to the best of my abilities, in the protection and defense of our American national security interests, the American people, and that of our international partners. I am always ready to serve and to give of my time and skills to help our society with the growing problems we experience in cyberspace. I thank God and my family for the opportunities I have had in life and the most precious of all opportunities, which is the chance to serve others. I love what I do, and I appreciate all the support I have received from friends, family and our CSFI members.
