TTC’s Military Cyber Security Conference

Bradford A. Barrett, General Steven W Smith, and Paul de Souza

What a great event! CSFI is honored to be a sponsor of TTC and to help promote this fantastic event. The list of speakers was up-to-date with what is happening in the military domain and how cyber is shaping it. I recommend TTC as one of the most important events in the DC area, not only for the military, but also for industry organizations trying to understand how to support our military and the war fighter.
I really enjoyed the presentations from the NSA, US Army Cyber Command, and many others. It is always a pleasure to listen to COL Jeff Schilling and Major General Steven W Smith speak.
The U.S. Army Cyber Command/2nd Army’s breadth of responsibility spans the entire Army and the entire world – from the tactical edge to the strategic enterprise-level to national levels. Traditional boundaries no longer exist, and anonymous attacks can occur literally at near light speed over fiber optic networks. Our enemies are able to deny the freedom of movement on our networks and use whatever they can from wherever they are in the world to gain advantage.

Army Cyber Command/2nd Army plans, coordinates, integrates, synchronizes, directs, and conducts network operations and defense of all Army networks and when directed, conducts cyberspace operations in support of full spectrum operations to ensure U.S./Allied freedom of action in cyberspace and to deny the same to our adversaries. The total command strength will exceed 21,000 soldiers and civilians and will be funded from within existing fiscal resources.
Technology Training Corporation was organized in 1974 in Los Angeles, California to provide continuing education courses for U.S. Aerospace professionals. Since then, their scope, complexity and mission have grown significantly.
Today they cover the globe, offering public seminars, conferences, and on-site training programs in virtually every field of business enterprise. From their corporate headquarters in El Segundo, California, their dedicated staff works tirelessly at bringing you the best and most advanced training seminars available today. In the United States and Europe, their seminars and conferences focus on the needs and concerns of the Aerospace and Defense communities.

Career Thoughts

I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to manage and run one of the biggest and most active forums on the Internet dealing with cyber warfare and cyber security – CSFI (The Cyber Security Forum Initiative). With over 16 years of cyber security experience, I continue to actively raise Cyber Warfare/Cyber Security awareness worldwide. I have worked as a Chief Security Engineer for AT&T, where I designed and approved secure networks for MSS. I have also consulted for several governments, military and private institutions on best network security practices throughout my career.

CSFI and its divisions CSFI-CWD (Cyber Warfare Division), CSFI-LPD (Law and Policy Division) and CSFI-WD (Wireless Division) continue to grow and expand with more than 60,000 information security members.

One of my personal goals is to serve our security community to the best of my abilities, in the protection and defense of our American national security interests, the American people, and that of our international partners. I am always ready to serve and to give of my time and skills to help our society with the growing problems we experience in cyberspace. I thank God and my family for the opportunities I have had in life and the most precious of all opportunities, which is the chance to serve others. I love what I do, and I appreciate all the support I have received from friends, family and our CSFI members.
